Randy Rescues Young Fawn
| After the fawn had rested for about an hour, it was time to take it back to the area where Shadow found it so that it could reunite with its mother. Randy wrapped the fawn up in his old jacket and carried it back across the stream and up the trail through the woods, then released it in an open meadow near Fox Hollow Road. Reenergized, the fawn galloped off through the woods, seemingly knowing exactly where to go. Upon returning to camp, Randy carried his jacket past Shadow, who remained secured in the kennel, as if the young deer was still wrapped inside. At the top of the meadow on the opposite end of their property, Randy lay the jacket down in a grassy spot. When Diane released Shadow, she ran directly to the jacket, sniffed it confirming that the fawn had been there, and then restlessly explored the areas in the meadow where she had last seen the fawn, never returning to the spot where she had first discovered it.
